Jessica Aronson
Program Manager
Puget Sound Energy
Bellevue, WA
Jessica provides environmental education programs for Puget Sound Energy including Powerful Choices for the Environment and The Cool School Challenge. She is particularly interested in reaching out to teachers who might not otherwise have the opportunity to be exposed to environmental education. Having worked in public schools, nonprofit organizations (Student Conservation Association, WGBH Boston), government organizations (National Park Service), and now a business, she is in a unique position to understand the needs of many parties. She also has experience fundraising (for various organizations, including the American Lung Association, the MS Society, and the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge). Jessica studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University and earned a Master of Education degree from Harvard University. She has taught high school environmental science, biology, physics, and math, giving her experience in standards-based education at public schools.
Justine Asohmbohm

Justine has been an active member of EEAW since 2007, and she now desires to “give back” to EEAW by utilizing her extensive experience in strategy as well as team-based planning and problem solving in a wide range of disciplines on EEAW’s behalf. She derives great personal satisfaction from helping others in general, and especially in using her skills, experience and network to help other professionals improve themselves and their organizations. She is committed to EEAW’s mission to work with other partners to implement the E3 Washington plan initiatives and increase awareness and support for quality environmental education in the state. Justine participated in the King County Regional Summit Theme Team and at the E3 Leadership Retreat. She is excited about helping build a stronger EEAW that continues to reach out to a younger generation of environmental education professionals.
Becky Blanchard

Becky has 25 years of experience bringing together a diverse group of people and skills to achieve powerful goals. The focus of Stonington Gallery is education through exhibits and cultural programs. Her work with the Stonington Gallery has given her the opportunity to understand the key roles of environment and culture in the development of healthy, contributing members of our society. For her, EEAW's mission represents an understanding that education is key to helping us make wiser decisions about the way we conduct our lives individually and professionally. Becky is impressed by the way EEAW and E3 Washington are conscientiously reaching out to different constituencies. As a businessperson, she can help EEAW build partnerships with the business, tribal, culturally diverse and arts communities.
Tom Carlson

Tom has been working and volunteering in the Puget Sound region for the past 14 years in schools, environmental organizations, schools and businesses. He worked as the Development Director for “People for Puget Sound” where he successfully directed fundraising, conceived and funded the Sound Economy Project and conceived and helped launch a pilot environmental education and stewardship program for high school students. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Divinity, and has 25 years of experience and accomplishment, mostly in the not-for-profit sector, in organizational development, fundraising, and marketing—all skills that will be of value to EEAW.
Russ Hanbey
Teacher/Writer/Environmental Restorationist

Russ has a long history with environmental education, having worked for 30 years as a teacher in public schools. He has served as the Northwest Director for the Student Conservation Association, as the Thornton Creek Project Education Coordinator and as Diversity Committee Chairman for Shoreline Schools. Russ also worked 14 summers with the Forest Service and has conducted 44 workshops in environmental education and restoration. He has written several dozen articles and other publications and received numerous Awards for his environmental programs at Shorecrest High School in the 1990s.
Paul Martin

Paul is passionate about getting youth from all backgrounds involved in issues that affect them not only individually but also affect their communities, by giving these young people a voice in decisions that affect them. He is active in creating opportunities for a diverse audience of participants to have access to all areas of environmental education. Paul will bring his experience in diversity training to EEAW. He will offer a different perspective about diversity in organizations as well as social and youth programming beyond the traditional realm of environmental education to ensure that EEAW is reaching out to all groups. He has experience in networking, making connections among organizations, and finding solutions when conflicts or barriers come up.
Jami Ostby-Marsh

Jami has been a valued member of EEAW for seven years, and has served on the Board for past two years. Jami’s work in the Spokane Region has been a valuable asset for EEAW and environmental education in general. Electing Jami to a second term on the board will support a continued voice for environmental education centers from eastern Washington. Jami also fosters a close relationship with some of eastern Washington’s most passionate conservationists and environmental education advocates – hunters and fishers. Jami’s work at the West Valley Outdoor Learning Center allows her to work with a variety of EE practitioners and stakeholders. Her passion for EEAW’s vision of the links among education, the environment, a stable economy and social justice is evident in the types of programs she and her partners provide, such as Hawk and Owl Outreach Talks, the Spokane Youth Environmental Conference, the Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer Curriculum, and the West Valley School District Sustainability Forum.
Tim Stetter

Tim coordinates the environmental education programs at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle. He has participated in EEAW Conferences and E3 Summits, and he has the vision to help EEAW to capitalize on the current, growing focus on sustainability at both the state and national levels in order to create learning opportunities for our schools, businesses, and communities. He sees great potential for significant accomplishments in environmental education over the next few years as new research convinces growing numbers of people of the interdependence of environmental and sustainability education, physical health, academic achievement, and environmental behavior. Tim has a Masters in Environmental Studies with a specialization in Environmental Education from Antioch New England Graduate School and has been an environmental educator for 12 years.
