Nature Vision, Inc.

Guided by their mission to “foster appreciation and stewardship of our environment through integration of school, community, and nature education for a sustainable future,” Nature Vision has accomplished a great deal since the non-profit organization was formed 2003.

Nature Vision serves over 30,000 students annually in King and Snohomish Counties.  They have expanded their program from a menu of about 30 face-to-face classroom programs to over 50 programs.  Nature Vision is able to offer free programming to many low-income schools, which would otherwise be unable to have environmental education reach them.  They have extended resources to teachers through their Nature Links program, which matches web-based activities with face to face classroom presentations.

The program’s success is due largely to an active partnership campaign to create collaboration between schools, government agencies, and other community groups.  Nature Vision used these partnerships to expand into the community with the development of the Water Education program.  With Nature Vision’s guidance and expertise, these agencies are more than fulfilling their education mandate and are now offering water–based Senior Culmination Projects, web activities for schools, and schoolyard water-wise gardening projects.  Nature Vision has also now joined the team to develop the bi-county Brightwater Environmental Education Center outreach program, which was designed reach a potential 600,000 students.  Nature Vision has come through a long and challenging haul to salvage and build this program, and it is time for them to be recognized for their vital work in our community.
