Community Catalyst-Imagine Tomorrow
Imagine Tomorrow, Washington State University’s annual problem-solving competition asks teams of students to address the topic of energy sustainability by answering one of four challenges: technological, behavioral, design, or multidisciplinary. The competition invites collaboration among leaders of today and tomorrow, enables students to realize how much they can achieve, and is a catalyst for driving innovation that is changing lives.
As a result of their participation in Imagine Tomorrow, students are making a positive difference in their communities and beyond. Students begin to imagine themselves pursuing careers related to environment, energy, policy, and the world around them. As they create solutions to complex issues, students learn critical thinking skills that will help them succeed in college and professional life.
The 2009 competition attracted over 300 students in 93 teams from 36 high schools across the state. Cash awards for students and their high schools totaled $106,000 thanks to their generous sponsors.
